At Parallel Paths Therapy, we understand that what feels safe to one person may feel jarring to another; what creates trust for one person may feed apprehension in the next. Keeping this in mind, along with a genuine, non-judgmental curiosity about you and your story, we strive to carefully meet you where you are at (not where you “should” be).
We recognize that everyone struggles. That’s normal. What makes you different is your willingness to seek help. Our goal is to create a confidential therapy environment that gives room to authentically wrestle and welcomes self-discovery and healing at your pace.
Maybe you’ve tried therapy before and didn’t quite get the results you were looking for. Maybe you felt like something was missing. Maybe you realized you couldn’t think or talk your way out of anger or anxiety or apathy. Maybe you realized that simply trying harder to believe or act differently wasn’t sustainable.
We recognize there are more paths to healing than just focusing what you “think.” We invite the opportunity to guide you beyond the limits of traditional “talk therapy” by inviting you to explore how you, right now, hold and exhibit your unique history of pain and fear in body sensations and movements, images, emotions, and the ways in which you struggle to connect with others. We draw from somatic experience therapy, attachment-focused therapy, and play therapy (with kids) that help set the conditions for you to experience care for your wounded places along with genuine, boundaried connection with others.
We believe that people already possess many of the answers they seek inside of them. Our goal is give you the guidance and tools so those answers can safely emerge.
